Another update: Cashback is now down to a measely 8%. The tuners can still be found for $199 shipped though which is a decent deal for these tuners considering they sell for at least $250 everywhere else.
Update: Cashback is now down to 25% but you can still save quite a bit with this deal. The going rate for tuners currently on Ebay seems to be around $199 plus shipping so taking the 25% you end up paying just under $150 plus shipping.
Ebay and Live.com are partnering up to offer 30% cash back on most items with Buy-It-Now and PayPal. There is a Buy-It-Now listing for ATI Digital Cable Tuners (CableCARD Tuners) for $224.95 with free shipping. With the 30% cash back, it will only cost you $157.47 after it’s all said and done. As of 8:50AM central time today, there are 22 in stock.
If you’ve never used Live.com cash back, here’s a primer on how it works. You buy something that’s eligible through the Live.com cash back program and they set aside whatever percentage was listed (in this case, 30% or about $67.48). In 60 days you can request that the money be sent to you. It’s somewhat like a mail-in rebate in that you have to wait for it but you don’t have to send in any forms or anything.
To get in on this deal, follow these steps (some may sound weird but trust me):
- Go to live.com and type “wii” in the search
- Below the search box but above any of the search results you should see a sponsored site that shows www.ebay.com and Live Search cashback (the box is grey)…click on this link
- You should now be taken to Ebay where you will see the results of the cheap ps3 search
- In the Ebay search box, type “ATI Digital Cable Tuner”
- You should see a listing in the results that lists the price at $224.95…click on this auction
- Once you click Buy-It-Now and enter your login information you should see the confirmation that you will be receiving cash back before you commit to buy
- You may have to sign up for a live.com email account…I’m not sure as I already had one prior to participating in this offer
Please note that I did not participate in this deal. I’m just passing it along because I thought it would be of interest to some since it’s a pretty good price for these tuners. As with any Ebay auction, do your research on the seller. This seller is from Australia but they have almost 8000 feedbacks with 99.2% of them being positive which is pretty stellar in my book.
Also, as I mentioned above, this offer can be used for most auctions that have Buy-It-Now and PayPal. I was able to buy an Xbox 360 Arcade for about $150 shipped after cash back yesterday. I also purchased a Logitech Harmony One for about $115 after cash back last week.
As always with deals like this, it’s available for a limited time.

Do you know where I can get the “Dual ATITV
Wonder™Digital Cable
Tuner with Remote
TVTOCR2 [412-1058][A1210307][A1210307]”
I saw it in the build of a new XPS420 but I can’t find it on Dells site by itself.
That’s because there is no Dual ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner. That’s basically just two of the DCTs and that’s how Dell lists them when you try to buy a brand new PC.
I put some information in another post about how you can try to get one from Dell but I only know of it working for one person (the original poster of the information). If you try this, please post back and let us know if it works. The post can be found here: http://www.mediacenterblog.net/how-to/how-to-buy-an-ati-digital-cable-tuner
Just ordered 2 tuners from them.
Thanks for the post. I also bought a refurbed 420 via your previous post.
John
You ordered them from Dell using the phone number that was listed in the other post? Or you ordered them from the eBay seller?
Glad to know the other post helped you find an XPS 420. Have you received it yet?
I ordered them from the Ebay post. The XPS should arrive by this weekend. I wonder how long it will take form Australia?
My guess would be maybe a couple of weeks at the most. Hopefully sooner! I know what it’s like to wait around for this stuff to get there.
Piece of advice…you may want to go ahead and call up your cable company to schedule the CableCARD install for about 2 weeks from now. Sometimes it can be hard to get something scheduled with them in a timely fashion.
My XPS and ATI Tuner cards are working great thanks. Looks like I need to get another 750 gig drive to handle all the HD recordings.
James,
I’ve been looking around for a decent / inexpensive Media Center PC and found out that Sony has discounted their refurb. Sony VAIO VGX-TP25E with TWO ATI Wonder Digital externals and internal BlueRay disc to $1,280. I’ve had bad experiences with Sony support (I head up IMAX’s IT group on the west coast and my boss was a former Sony exec. With all our connections we STILL couldn’t get his Sony laptop fixed for 6 months), but the price, features, and size (I have a small cabinet under the HD TV to work with) make this very temping.
Looking at the hardware specs it seems quite capable of HD recording/playback and even supporting Windows 7 as well. I checked various websites for product comments and found a couple of good reviews on PCMAG, etc. but not much in the way of user input. Any thoughts on the box would be appreciated, along with any tips for setting it up. I also have to deal with Time Warner here, so between Sony and them I’m sure my technical skills will be challanged.
Thanks in advance for your help.
David,
Please provide a link to the specific system you are talking about. I looked on Sony Style’s website and the only one I found for that price was the VGX-TP20E/B. Is this the one you are referring to?
Please provide a link and I will be happy to take a look and let you know my opinion. I personally have never dealt with Sony for PCs because they are usually overpriced in my opinion but this sounds like a decent deal.
